Through its Arts Access program, the Diablo Regional Arts Association (the marketing and fundraising arm of the Lesher Center for the Arts) is able to offer extensive outreach programs to senior citizens who may not otherwise be able to attend a production at the Lesher Center for the Arts.

Maintaining quality of life for senior citizens is a challenge for families. Adding art — visual, auditory and participatory — to the lives of those who are limited by either physical or mental limitations is a goal of Arts Access.

• Studies prove that isolated seniors benefit from the social interaction of the arts experience while caregivers also exhibit lower stress levels and increased energy

• Access to the arts seems to stimulate the brain and increase functioning in those with Alzheimer's Disease
